# Delegation and policies

> Choose who decides each organization action, and work on tokens other organizations have named you on.

## Policies

Policies decide who approves each type of action in your organization. Open **Organization** and select the **Policies** tab.

Actions are grouped into **Members**, **Tokenization**, **Compliance**, **Documents**, **Treasury**, and **Settings**. Each one shows who decides it:

* **Direct approvers**: named people who can carry out the action on their own.
* **Decided by** an approval group: the action needs that group's approval.
* **Open to everyone**: any member can carry it out.

## Delegate an action

**1. Open the policy**

On the **Policies** tab, select the action you want to change.

**2. Choose who decides**

Assign approvers, or delegate the action to a person or an approval group.

**3. Save**

Select **Save changes**, then apply them. Changing a policy usually needs approval from your governance group.

You can revoke a delegation at any time from the same place. Every action taken under a delegation records the delegation behind it, so the history always shows who acted and on whose authority.

## Token roles

When you list a token, you assign the people or groups who handle each step of its requests:

| Role | Responsibility |
| - | - |
| **Account manager** | Confirms each redemption with the investor and quotes the fee. |
| **Operator** | Registers deposits, records releases and shipments, and confirms delivery. |
| **Mint approver** | Approves issuance requests. |
| **Burn approver** | Approves redemption requests. |

A role can go to a person, an approval group, or another organization.

## Delegated requests

If another organization names yours on one of its tokens, for example as the operator, your organization workspace shows **Delegated requests**. It lists the requests on those tokens where your organization handles a step.

## Who can file requests in your name

For each token, select **Operator settings** on its row in **Listed tokens** to choose who may open issuance or redemption requests in your organization's name.
